GEARIN’ UP IS NOW PART OF WABA!

We’re excited to announce that the much loved Gearin’ Up Bikes is now a program of WABA. We are thrilled to be able to continue Gearin’ Up’s mission of job training, youth education, community engagement, and access to affordable bicycles and bike repair.

What does the future of Gearin’ Up look like?

In the short term, we’ll continue to host repair clinics and keep the earn-a-bike program running.

We’re also currently in talks about a new permanent home for the Gearin’ Up shop—a place for learning, community connection, fun, and fixing bikes.

What does this mean for WABA?

Access to affordable bikes and bike repair is a critical part of growing the bicycling movement, as is a well-trained workforce of mechanics who are connected to the communities they serve. In addition to being able to keep these valuable Gearin’ Up’s programs available, WABA is looking forward to being able to incorporate Gearin’ Up’s expertise into our education and outreach programming.

Want to help out?

We’ll have lots of opportunities to volunteer—fixing bikes, teaching, moving tools and gear, and more. Sign up here to get notified when these chances come up. A WABA membership supports all of WABA’s programming, including Gearin’ Up.
