Gearin’ Up partners with dozens of schools, nonprofits, and local organizations to broaden its reach and provide programs beyond the bicycle shop. These mobile programs also give youth mechanics in the job training program a chance to practice repair and customer service skills.
Want to invite a pop-up shop to your neighborhood?
Our pop-up shops travel to community gathering places — neighborhood block parties, libraries, farmers’ markets, coffee shops, and more — where DC residents are interested in learning about basic bicycle maintenance and safety. Gearin’ Up is especially interested in reaching communities not served by for-profit bicycle shops. Pop-up shops are one-day events, usually held on the weekends.
